English Language and Literature Students of 2023 Successfully Held ENLITE FEST 2025

Makassar, July 10, 2025 – The 2023 class of English Language and Literature (BSI) students from Universitas Islam Negeri Alauddin Makassar (UINAM) successfully held the highly anticipated ENLITE FEST 2025 on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the D’Edelweiss Ballroom, Universitas Fajar (UNIFA).

ENLITE FEST, short for English Language and Literature Festival, is an annual celebration organized by the Department of English Language and Literature (commonly known as ELE). This year, the event was made even more special through a vibrant collaboration between UINAM and UNIFA, marking a milestone in inter-campus academic and cultural cooperation.

The event integrated projects from three core courses: English Poetry, Cross-Cultural Understanding, and English Drama. The event featured a series of creative performances and cultural showcases, highlighting both local heritage and global awareness.

The festival opened with a chain poetry reading performed by UINAM’s English students, followed by a singing performance from Jihan. A short film on cross-cultural understanding was also screened, capturing diverse cultural narratives and the importance of intercultural empathy.

One of the most striking moments was the cultural parade featuring traditional costumes representing Sulawesi’s ethnic groups—Bugis, Kajang, Makassar, Konjo, Mandar, and Toraja—proudly worn by English students from UNIFA.

Adding international flavor to the event, UINAM students delivered cultural presentations from countries such as Bhutan, Peru, South Wales, Romania, and Morocco, bridging global connections through education and art.

The festivities continued with an engaging quiz session, a musical poetry performance, and two main events: drama performances by both UNIFA and UINAM students, showcasing their theatrical talents and interpretative creativity.

The event featured opening remarks and addresses from several distinguished individuals, including Awaluddin as the Chairperson of ENLITE FEST 2025, the Drama Production Leader from UNIFA, Muh. Taufik, S.Hum., M.Hum., the Head of the English Language and Literature Department of UINAM, and the Deputy Rector III for Student Affairs and Cooperation at UNIFA, who also officially opened the event.

ENLITE FEST 2025 was attended by key university figures and supporters, including the Deputy Rector III for Student Affairs and Cooperation, the Dean of Economics and Social Sciences from UNIFA, the Head of the English Department, lecturers from UINAM, as well as students and alumni who showed strong enthusiasm and support throughout the event.

ENLITE FEST 2025 successfully blended education, cultural exchange, and artistic expression into one spectacular celebration. The event not only showcased the academic achievements of the students but also fostered greater unity, creativity, and appreciation for cultural diversity among young scholars.

As the curtains closed, the audience left with admiration and pride for what the students of UINAM and UNIFA had accomplished—proof that language and literature are powerful bridges between people, cultures, and institutions.
