BSI Essay Writing Competition 2025 Highlights Critical Thinking and National Insight Among English Literature Students
Makassar, June 14, 2025 – In celebration of the 26th Anniversary of the English Literature Department (BSI), the department held the "Essay Writing Competition 2025" as one of the core academic events under the overarching theme "Realizing the Potential of English Language and Literature Learners: Embracing the Role in Building the Nation's Future."
The competition aimed to sharpen students’ critical thinking, enhance their academic writing skills, and encourage their role as future leaders through reflective and research-based writing. It also marked an intellectual contribution to the milestone celebration of the department’s legacy.
The competition opened for registration on May 1, 2025, and closed submissions on May 20, 2025. A total of 42 essays were submitted by active BSI students, exploring sub-themes such as:

Leadership and Youth Contribution
After a rigorous evaluation by a panel of expert judges,. namely Ahmad, S.S., M.Litt.; Dr. Sardian Maharani Asnur, S.Pd., M.Pd.; and Dr. Nasrum, S.Pd., M.A. The winners were officially announced during the grand night of BSI’s Got Talent on June 14, 2025, held at Gedung Mulo.

Each winner received a cash prize and a certificate as recognition of their outstanding ideas and contributions.
The award ceremony, set amidst artistic performances at BSI’s Got Talent, symbolically bridged intellectual excellence and creative expression, embodying the spirit of the department’s theme: Harmonia Eternal.
